2023 "Swan Lake"
ballet staged at the lake and other locations in 3 acts

Swan Lake is the only ballet that has not only gone far beyond the limits of classical art, but has also become a socio-cultural myth on the territory of our country. During the 1991 putsch, only Swan Lake was broadcasting on all state channels. After that, the ballet became inextricably linked with coups d'état. A timeless classic and a symbol of breaking eras.

For me, Swan Lake is above all a ritual, a desperate need to continue the ballet where the librettist Vladimir Petrovich Begichev left it in 1876. In my version of the ballet, the main characters - Odette and Prince Siegfried - are already dead and continue their journey in the netherworld - in the space inhabited by swans, mermaids and forest spirits. I am completing my version of the story of Swan Lake, returning to the audience the tragic ending that was taken away during the Soviet era.

Will the souls of the heroes be saved in heaven?

Act 1.
The river is a symbol of the passage to the netherworld. Crossing the river, we find ourselves in the realm of Hades. Here Prince Siegfried is looking for his beloved Odette. But he meets only her dark incarnation - a black swan. The Prince chooses death. Mourning for the Prince

Act 2
The spirits summon the dark form of the evil genius Rothbart. He appears on the lake to finally destroy Princess Odette, who has been bewitched by him.
Rothbart drags Odette into the water where she dies. A memorial procession.

Act 3
Odette and Prince Siegfried finally meet each other as people. Only around them are not humans, but spirits of darkness. They both choose not to return to the world of the living in order to stay together. Siegfried and Odette vow to stay forever in the world of the dead. The burying of souls.
