2021. Mosсow

Dance performance to music by Iannis Xenakis and Angelina Rud commissioned by the New Manege (Moscow).

Dance performance, inspired by Igor Stravinsky's Sacred Spring, is conceptualized as a mass ritual that seeks to connect the subconscious of both performers and audience to the egregor of previous generations through a single rhythm. Rhythm and ritual become here a single element, which calls the ancient spirits into a common dance of resurrection. Rhythm in ballet turns from a factor that is usually subordinate into a primary, determining factor. It brings us back to the original, to the deepest properties of human nature. The unified rhythm as a preparation for a joint leap into a spontaneous dance, awakening from the common artistic and socio-political torpor. Stravinsky shows a ritual in which the clan invokes the deified forces of nature. In this invocation of the truth of nature, which we hear through the prism of the musical sound of modernity, lies the continuing relevance of Sacred Spring. I feel Spring Sacred is a symphony full of wild sadness, gripping the earth in a state of gestation, it's chants coming from the depths of time.
